Processing of Information

In connection with your examination, diagnosis, and treatment as a patient, Åkirkeby Lægehus, as the data controller, collects and processes a range of personal data about you. This is done in accordance with Chapter 6 of the Danish Authorization Act and the Executive Order on Medical Records.
This privacy policy describes how we process, use, and disclose your personal data.

Types of Information

We collect and process the following types of information, as applicable:

  • General information: name, address, email, phone number, social security number, gender, relationships, employment, and education.
  • Sensitive information: health information (medical records, test results, scans, etc.), sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, and religion.

Purpose of the processing

We process your information in order to:

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat you
  • Prepare certificates and medical statements
  • Communicate with other healthcare professionals
  • Prescribe medication and issue prescriptions
  • Submit data to databases and settle accounts with the region
  • Comply with legislation and ensure data protection
  • Investigate security breaches and respond to inquiries
  • Handling inspections, complaints, and disputes
  • Conduct statistical and research analyses

Volunteering

Information is provided voluntarily. If you choose not to provide information, we may not be able to treat you.

Sources

We also collect information from other healthcare professionals and electronic systems, as appropriate.

Disclosure of Information

Your information may be shared with:

  • Other healthcare professionals regarding treatment needs
  • Public agencies (the Danish Patient Safety Authority, the Danish Health Data Authority, RKKP, and others)
  • Police, courts, and government agencies as provided by law
  • Pharmacies and the Danish Medicines Agency via FMK
  • Regional Settlement Offices
  • Clinical Quality Databases
  • Insurance companies and next of kin (with consent)

Legal Basis

The processing is based on:

  • General Data Protection Regulation, Art. 6(1)(c/d) and 9(2)(c/h)
  • Chapter 6 of the Authorization Act
  • Sections 5–10 of the Bookkeeping Regulation
  • Health Care Act, Chapter 9, Sections 60, 157, 195–196
  • Consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) and 9(2)(a)

Withdrawal of Consent

If the processing is based on consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time. This will not affect any processing that has already taken place.

Use of Data Processors

We use the following data processors:

  • WinPLC System House (log system)
  • DAK-E (Digital Care Plans)
  • DMDD, Webreg, Webpatient (laboratory and questionnaires)

Storage

We retain your information for at least 10 years from the date of the last entry in the record, in accordance with Section 15 of the Record-Keeping Order. In special cases (complaints, claims for damages), the retention period may be longer.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access to and Correction of Information
  • Requesting the Deletion or Restriction of Information
  • Data Portability
  • Objecting to Processing and Profiling
  • Filing a Complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency
