Research and Development
We actively contribute to improving patient care
Åkirkeby Medical Center regularly participates in research and development projects in collaboration with external partners. The goal is to improve the quality of patient care and contribute to new knowledge in general practice.
Here is a selection of the projects we have participated in or are currently participating in:
- 2018 – ASSURE
: An asthma project focused on improving the diagnosis and treatment of patients with asthma. - 2018 – Urinary Tract Project
Collaboration with the Aarhus Research Unit on Urinary Tract Infections in General Practice. - 2020 – Video Consultation Project
Conducted in collaboration with the Capital Region of Denmark to explore the potential of video consultations in general practice. - 2020 – Urinary Tract Project
Research project with the University of Copenhagen on the management of urinary tract infections. - 2020 – DD2 Project (still ongoing as of 2026)
Collaboration with the Steno Diabetes Center to improve treatment for patients with type 2 diabetes. - 2021 – Family Well-Being in General Practice
A project with the University of Copenhagen focusing on family well-being and the early detection of distress. - 2021 – The ODIN Project
A project focusing on older patients with polypharmacy (the use of multiple medications), with the aim of reducing inappropriate medication use. - 2025 – De-diagnosis
Project focused on removing diagnoses that are no longer relevant. Collaboration with the SDU research unit.
